Mayor’s meeting: focus on school renovation in 2021 – Ludwigsburg

How did Corona change the budget situation at the end of the year?

The budget of the community Walheim could be kept so far. Thanks to the corona aid, it was possible to offset the business tax income that has ceased to exist.

How do you assess the prospects for 2021?

The draft budget for 2021 was presented in the December meeting. We need a loan in the coming year, mainly for the renovation of the primary school. However, this was already provided for in the financial planning. Everything else, with the effects of the trade tax, will be seen in the coming years.

What are the most important projects in the new year?

As already mentioned, the primary school is being renovated, which will also be the greatest financial burden in the coming year. The community development concept is to be completed. Citizen participation is now on the agenda. The planned event could not take place this year due to corona. In Walheim, two streets are being renovated, the start of construction had to be postponed this year.

The sale of the building sites in the new development area to private individuals and property developers is also due in 2021. We are still working on the topic of local supplies. Maybe we will take a step further in the coming year. The local council also wants to implement further projects on the subject of town center redevelopment.

What are your personal wishes for the coming year?

That we can all get through the corona pandemic together, stay healthy and maybe be on the way to a “normal” life in the second half of 2021.

Are there any special problem children
in your community?

The financial situation will certainly remain a problem child in the years to come. Many compulsory tasks, such as the rehabilitation of the water and sewage system, the rehabilitation of the sewage treatment plant or childcare, will keep the community busy in the years to come.

Thank you for the interview.
