The Viana do Castelo Municipal Civil Protection Commission confirmed the death today of one of the two users of the Santiago home belonging to the local Misericórdia infected by the new coronavirus.

In the note, that entity specifies that the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Viana do Castelo “is also reallocating resources from other sources to the Lar de Santiago unit”.
“The municipality of Viana do Castelo, as of today, will supply meals to this institution during the period when there are difficulties with the human resources of Lar de Santiago. The Social Security directorate in Viana do Castelo will also provide personal protection equipment to Lar de Santiago, a measure that will be extended to other residential institutions for the elderly, ”the statement said.
In addition to the situation in the Santiago home, one of the two belonging to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Viana do Castelo, which welcomes 53 elderly people, “the situations of the Darque social promotion center were analyzed”, the first in the municipality to confirm cases of covid-19 infection.
