Florida Mayor Rodolfo Carter referred to the arrest of a 32-year-old man accused of making threats against him., and his brother, Deputy Álvaro Carter.

Carter reported that in 2019 he received death threats through various phone calls to his home. For this reason, he reported the situation to the authorities.

After meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Víctor Pérez – with whom he addressed the criminal acts that affect Florida – the communal chief referred to the arrest by the PDI of a 32-year-old subject. “I thought it would never happen, like many victims in Chile I thought it would be a single complaint”he expressed.

“What we are going to ask the courts for is justice. We do not want revenge against that person, much less. We simply want to end the habit of going to threaten people who think differently from home, that the violent can attack you on the street and then inhibit having your opinion “, added the mayor.

Carter called to “put yourself in the shoes” of people who experience this situation on a daily basis. “How much is a person’s fear worth? (…) ”he concluded.

When consulted on this matter, the Interior Minister condemned the threats that, in his opinion, only seek “Alter the rules of the democratic game”.
