The fault belongs to Columbus it was installed as one of the television hits of the year, what do you attribute it to?

-I think it worked right away because of everything that is going on. The news is a downturn, people have a bad time and laugh with us. We noticed it on the networks. It is strong to feel that. Another fundamental thing is that a team of good people was put together, good wood. We support each other, we accompany each other, we move forward, and we have also gone out to eat and chat with each other. With Germán (Medina) we did not know each other, and he told us “I thought they were going to make me pay the right to the flat.” He saw that it was the other way around. This same program in other countries does not work as well because the guys are champions and they have their egos. Here we all have experience, but a chemistry was generated as a group that I do not know if it occurred in other versions of the program. I shit … laughing doing it.

-It is the program that is most similar to what you have done in theater, do you contribute ideas for the content?

-Yes i like it. I am constantly thinking about how to keep the rhythm of the program so that it does not decline at any time. There are five comedians and you have to throw things all the time, you can’t stop. And the fact that it is a program that looks like theater brought to television makes it very comfortable for all of us. Everyone is free to bring their material and do their thing in the air. German, for example, had never done television and was never noticed.

-Is it the program in which you felt more comfortable than the ones you have done?

-Each program varies and has its own. In this I can do humor and he is aggiornado with this of the stand up. To that is added that I really like to generate something with other comedians on the air. It hasn’t happened to me for a long time.

-Since Scoundrel (2013) you did not do a comedy program, in these years have you done any other format that you felt was not entirely for you?

-Trato Done (2019-2021) was the one that generated the greatest challenge for me. I did others that were more of a show, but in this one, people came with their life stories to play for money. When they proposed it to me, I said “I’m going to do it”, but I had to see how, because I knew it wasn’t something that would come out of hand. It was difficult for me to get down, but I was finding the way around. The humor is fine, but it also helps me to be able to show another type of more formal driving and touch on more delicate topics.

-Catalina Ferrand pointed out that the women’s version of La Culpa es de Colón received more criticism due to the “macho resistance” that exists in society, do you feel the same?

– I do not know if there is male resistance. There are men who tell me they like ours better and women who say they like ours better. It may be that due to the closed head that we have in Uruguay, the existence of a humor program made up only of women has been shocked, and it may also have been done thinking about achieving that. I am glad that the women’s edition is on the air. The girls re-defend him with their style and have their audience. There are people who like it and people who don’t.

-Why hasn’t a mixed version been made?

-There was the idea at one point to do it once a week, but there were a lot of people together and it was difficult to put it together.

-A few days ago Marcel Keoroglian had to apologize for a joke about nurses that he made in Informal Desayunos and fell ill with health officials, how much do you care about the sensitivity of the groups when it comes to making humor?

-I am aware that the chip has to be changed. Today’s humor goes the other way and I keep that very much in mind. I am careful not to make a joke that could offend minorities and I try to avoid touching complicated topics. I have exchanged things from the monologues for suggestions that have been made to me. I listen and try to adapt.

-What routine did you modify, for example?

-There is a monologue in which I play a couple walking down the street, and I talk about what happens when one comes across another woman and avoids looking at her. When he acted out the couple’s dialogue, he played the woman in an exaggerated tone, as if she were stupid. There were women who made me see that. They suggested that I do the monologue but speaking in a normal way when playing the woman, because the joke was going the other way. I told them they were right and now when I have to play a woman I try not to take her that way.

-Does the humor improve by attending to these types of questions or does it end up resigning resources that are still effective?

-It’s impossible to make everyone happy. Nor is it that I stopped doing everything. If I have to make a fagot I do it, and I do it thinking of my gay friends when we share barbecue, which are very funny. I take those things as references and fuck with it. Someone can always jump to complain, but I don’t do it to hit them because they are a minority. I do it because it’s funny. You make a joke, which is not to offend or hurt anyone. They also have to understand us, who continue to generate things and try to find a way around them. It’s hard.

-How did you manage your relationship with your dad Cacho throughout the year of the pandemic?

-We talk every day, and every so often I visit him. I try not to go too much and greet him from afar. The confinement hit him a lot, he is worried about contagions and whores those who do not take care of themselves. “How are they going to have parties!” He says. He’s an active and creative guy, so having to lock himself in overnight was difficult. A thousand fears are crossed. Luckily this week the vaccine was already given. In spite of everything, it maintains its essence and when we speak we die of laughter.

-Luis Alberto Carballo and Cristina Morán expressed their opinion on Algo Contigo (Channel 4) that television missed 10 more years of Cacho de la Cruz on the air, do you agree?

-Yes. There were changes on television that did not know how to listen to him and did not give him the opportunity to be heard. Those changes took him on. He is no gil and before going to the crash he preferred to open up and say “until here I came.” If they had listened to him more, or had tried to make a mix between what he wanted and the changes that were coming, surely he had ten more years on television. Are moments. He also has his personality and his character. It was for that.

-Can you imagine him returning to television with a special cycle like Cristina Morán did?

-I don’t know if you feel like it. I see him more to go as a guest to a program of La Culpa de Colón when the pandemic is over. That may be wonderful, but you have to wait.

-You returned to Uruguay to live after going through several months of quarantine in Buenos Aires, how do you remember that experience?

-I ate 130 days locked up. I went to Buenos Aires on March 13 and could not return. Santino did a week of gardening and could not do anything else. Then we were totally locked up. One day that of La Culpa es de Colón was reactivated in Uruguay and they told me “the play is coming, are you coming?”. I had two weeks to fix everything and come to Uruguay. It was July 17. We said “let’s wear winter clothes and see.” I have my house and all my things there.

-This year do you plan to stay living in Uruguay?

-Yes, I have decided. I am living with Bárbara and Santino in Punta del Este. I need to be able to go to and from Buenos Aires, but it is not yet known when it will be possible.

-Have colleagues from Argentina consulted you about the possibility of moving to Uruguay?

-Yes, I have even made notes on the subject, especially about living in Punta del Este. There was a strong wave in Argentina of “you have to go to Uruguay” at a time when there were almost no cases of Covid here. And it is true that one sees more Argentines living in Punta del Este. However, I told my trusted friends: “Uruguay is beautiful, but we are also in a pandemic and the work is not the same.” The Argentine is used to earning other money and having a different lifestyle. In addition, they think that in Uruguay we earn in dollars, as if we were an American state. And it is not like that. We earn in pesos and freely change into dollars. The common laborer who wants to come has to get a job here and it is not easy. In addition, his reality does not change so much compared to what he has in Argentina. You will have more security, tranquility and stability, but you will not have the rhythm of things that you are used to. Whoever comes to live in Punta del Este is because he has it. The one who can do it is because he does not feel the money, and he has not earned in pesos but in dollars for 20 years.
