The President of the Republic Mohamed O. Cheikh Ghazouani on Tuesday evening inaugurated the Cheikh Mohamed Ben Zayed field hospital in Nouakchott, composed of two compartments, one mobile and the other fixed, with a capacity of 220 beds including 24 reserved for intensive care.

This inauguration comes as Mauritania faces the third wave of the coronavirus and the pressure is increasing on the various health structures of the country.

For the president of the regional council of Nouakchott, Ms. Fatimetou mint Abdel Maleck it is no secret the importance of this health infrastructure with regard to the various services, care and medical consultations in addition to the monitoring of patients with covid-19 and their care.

Mint Abdel Maleck, in his speech at the inauguration, seized “this opportunity to express its sincere thanks to the state of the United Arab Emirates brother for its generous and continuous support to our people, which has been reflected again by building and equipping this important complete infrastructure which will have a great impact on strengthening our health system ”.

Speaking for his part, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Mauritania Hamed Ghanem Hamed Lemheyri said that the inauguration of this Cheikh Mohamed Ben Zayed field hospital is “an additional step added to the relations between the Emirates and Mauritania. thanks to the wise directives of the leaders of our two countries ”.

He reaffirmed the entire solidarity of the UAE state, its leaders, its government, its people with Mauritania in this difficult situation and its support for the Mauritanian government in all the measures it undertakes to contain the consequences of the pandemic.

The Emirati diplomat also said that they aspire that this field hospital contributes to the efforts made to cross this stage, by reaffirming the determination of his country to grant Mauritania all the means available to help Mauritania to cross this stage. hard.

The UAE ambassador added that this new hospital completes the process of medical cooperation between the two countries, by standing alongside the Cheikh Zayed Ben Soultane Al Nahyane hospital and that of Fatimetou Bint Mubarak inaugurated last year. , paints a unique picture of the cooperation between the Emirates and Mauritania and reflects the will of the two countries to stand side by side in all situations.

Speaking at the end of the ceremony, the Mauritanian Minister of Health, Sidi O. Zahaf, spoke of the Mauritanian strategy in the fight against the coronavirus, before adding that the inauguration of the Cheikh Mohamed Ben field hospital Zayed is vivid proof of the depth of brotherly relations and the strong bonds that unite the peoples of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the state of the United Arab Emirates and their wise rulers.

Addressing the President of the Republic, Mohamed O. Cheikh Ghazouani, the Minister of Health declared “allow me to address on your behalf, our sincere thanks and our deep gratitude to the state of the United Arab Emirates brother, its government and its people for the aid and support granted to our country during this pandemic.

The first vaccines received by Mauritania were a donation from this sister country, accompanied by medical equipment and a technical team for the supervision and training of vaccination teams and the storage of vaccines.

Ould Zahaf revealed that Mauritania is due to receive a batch of 80,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines offered by the UAE on Wednesday.

The President of the Republic and the Prime Minister visited the different pavilions of the hospital, in the two wings, one made up of prefabricated panels, the second made up of tents and containers.
The first consists of a 120-bed hospital, 24 of which are intended for intensive care, in addition to the medical equipment necessary for hospitalizations and the care of coronavirus patients.

The first wing, which occupies an area of ​​3,309 m2 is composed of a large reception room, 30 hospital rooms, 6 rooms for medical staff, a pharmacy, a laboratory, 6 toilets for the sick, four others for the medical staff, two generators, in addition to a control system for the access doors, electricity, water and a sanitation system in addition to detectors and fire hydrants.

The hospital rooms are equipped with an integrated oxygen and ventilation circuit.

The hospital has a generator set to supply electricity, three water reserves with a capacity of 60 M3 equipped with tap.

The second wing has 100 beds in tents set up over an area of ​​4600 m2, a reception room, another for administration, an examination room, 10 hospital rooms, a pharmacy, a laboratory, toilets. for the medical staff and the sick, an electricity system, air conditioning of water reserves and a sanitation system.

The mobile hospital has a generator supplying the entire structure, a tank with a capacity of 20M3, water reserves with a capacity of 30M3 equipped with pumps in addition to a sanitation system. .

This mobile hospital has the medical equipment necessary for hospitalizations and patient care and has obtained from the Ministry a medical oxygen generator with a capacity of 480 liters per hour.
