According to information from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manuel Ugarte should actually leave the ranks of Sporting Portugal during the next summer transfer window. Under contract until June 2026, the 22-year-old midfielder took advantage of the last match of the championship on Vizela’s lawn to bid farewell to Sporting supporters.

While his agent Jorge Mendes, close to Luis Campos, plays the intermediary between the leaders of Paris Saint-Germain and those of the Portuguese club in the negotiations, the Uruguayan international has not yet made a decision concerning his next destination. Especially since Chelsea and their new manager Mauricio Pochettino would do anything to secure the signing of Manuel Ugarte.

On leaving for Sporting Portugal this summer, Manuel Ugarte is the subject of a tough battle between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. Indeed, if the club from the French capital would be ready to pay the 60 million euros of the player’s release clause, the Blues would offer the same amount plus 5 million euros to overtake PSG. Ugarte would have a preference for the Premier League, but the fact that Chelsea will not play in any European cup next season, unlike Paris SG which guarantees him to play in the Champions League, could have an impact on his choice.

But the Portuguese daily Record assures that at present, Sporting Portugal is still awaiting the decision of its player. According to the latest news, Chelsea would offer a much lower salary than PSG to the young compatriot ofEdinson Cavani, which would now be on the shelves of Manchester United. It remains to be seen what choice Manuel Ugarte will make for the rest of his career.
