Matterhorn landslide, mountaineers evacuation – Aosta Valley

The evacuation of mountaineers who are engaged in the ascension of the Matterhorn from the Italian side is underway due to a landslide that fell under the Colle del Leone (which is located at 3,581 meters).
Two helicopters are operating in the area with personnel from the Valle d’Aosta mountain rescue and 118, to collect the approximately 20 climbers who are in the Carrel hut refuge (3,830 meters). In addition, another consortium is located higher up and will be joined by rescuers. The landslide prevents mountaineers from descending into the valley.
