The retaliation for “chickpeas of water” was more than brutal. Andersson’s opponent from the Avesta team, whose name is not mentioned by the Swedish media for safety, hit him with a hockey stick so brutally that the young hockey player’s face became unrecognizable. After the attack, there was blood everywhere, bruises on the player’s face, and knocked out teeth in his teeth.
“I guess he did it because I splashed water on him. Then I felt a stick hit on my lips. It felt as if my jaw was pressing into my throat, I could feel the teeth in my mouth. I was in shock, I didn’t know what to do. Then came the pain, the likes of which I have never experienced in my life,” Andersson described the terrible experience.
The youngster started for Hille/Åbyggeby in the match. According to his own words, he was subsequently able to eat only soup, moreover, through a straw.
Then, when the injured player’s team tried to get an ambulance, Avesta’s switchboard announced that he could get straight into the hearse.
A brutal act will have legal repercussions. Prosecutor Helena Falkerby brought charges of violent assault against the attacker.
“The act should be classified as a violent assault because the suspect showed exceptional cruelty and recklessness,” she commented.
