Massachusetts father using song as touching tribute to daughter and to raise mental health awareness – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Father Honors Daughter’s Memory Through Song

A Massachusetts Dad Shares a Heartfelt Tribute and Message of Hope.

Following a decade of grief, a Massachusetts father is sharing a song dedicated to his daughter, who died by suicide. On Father’s Day, Marcel Roston wants those battling mental health challenges to know they are not alone, offering solace and a reminder of the importance of seeking help.

A Personal Anthem of Remembrance

Ten years ago, Marcel Roston lost his seventeen-year-old daughter, Chloe, to suicide. He has now released a country song entitled, “Learn It, Love It, Leave It,” as a tribute to her. The song is a way for him to articulate the complex emotions related to her passing.

“There’s nothing that can replace my daughter, ever,”

Marcel Roston

Roston also highlighted the invaluable lessons his daughter imparted, including resilience and the ability to love without conditions. He aims to provide comfort to those who have experienced similar loss.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that suicide was the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 10-24 in 2021. This illustrates the pressing need for increased awareness and resources regarding mental health.

Words of Encouragement

Roston offers advice to others dealing with grief: “Champion your journey. Remember the good times as much as you remember the bad.” He has a direct message for people struggling with mental health. He said, “Tomorrow needs you. Those are three words that I’d love to tell my daughter, but I can’t.”

If you or someone you know is in crisis, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988 or visiting 988lifeline.org.
