The 32nd finals of the French Football Cup will bring Ligue 1 clubs into the competition. The Riviera clubs of AS Cannes and Entente Sportive du Cannet-Rocheville will have a hard time getting into the round. following.

After an 8th round and its successes on the Riviera, the entry into the competition of Ligue 1 clubs gives a whole new dimension to the Coupe de France. Elite teams are coming into play at this stage of the competition: AS Monaco, OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille.

In Paris, this Monday, November 29, the draw announced the matches played on December 18 and 19.

OGC Nice was the first of this evening to know his opponent. Christophe Galtier’s players will face the Cholet club which plays in the National, or the Franciscan club, which is located in François, Martinique. The match originally scheduled for November 28 between these last two clubs has been postponed.

The Red Star (National) will play AS Monaco (L1), Dijon (L2) will receive AS Cannes (N3). As for Cannet-Rocheville, it will be Olympique de Marseille for a gala match, unprecedented for the Entente Sportive.

The French Football Federation has distributed all the clubs qualified for this round in 4 groups or hats.

AS Cannes is found alongside the Entente Sportive du Cannet-Rocheville, in Group C. Both work alongside professional Ligue 1 clubs:

  • the Olympique de Marseille
  • l’AS Monaco
  • the Montpellier HSC
  • FC Nantes
  • AS Saint-Etienne

Ligue 2 clubs are also present in this same hat:

OGC Nice finds itself in Group B, with Ligue 1 clubs RC Lens, Clermont Foot 63, Olympique Lyonnais and FC Metz – against whom they lost in their last game of championship on behalf of the 15th day. Other professional Ligue 2 clubs make up the group: Paris FC, Nîmes Olympique, and Toulouse FC.

AS Cannes and its neighbor, the Entente Sportive du Cannet-Rocheville, both residents of National 3 (the equivalent of the fifth division) must maintain the same dynamic which had enabled them to eliminate higher-ranking clubs.

On November 27, on behalf of the 8th round, thethe Dragons of Cannes hosted professionals from Rodez, a Ligue 2 club, while l’ESCR faced earlier in the day the Corsicans of Bastia-Borgo, a club playing in the National.

The Cannes and the Cannetans must win the next five matches to hope to succeed PSG, winner of the previous edition, and play the final to be held on May 8 at the Stade de France in Seine-Saint-Denis.
