How far it seems, this victory at the Parc des Princes … A week after their success in Paris, the players of Olympique de Marseille have already run out of gas. Beaten by Saint-tienne (0-2) on Thursday, the Marseille team had to rely on an excellent Steve Mandanda and on the opportunism of Valre Germain to obtain a draw against Lille (1-1), this Sunday, in closing of the 4th day of Ligue 1. A true miracle in view of the physiognomy of the game.
Lille dominates
Hungry, the Mastiffs took the game from the right end and quickly exerted intense pressure to hamper the first opponent’s raise. Territorial dominance that was almost rewarded, but Yilmaz was signaled offside on his goal. Opposite, the Marseillais did not offer much. The midfielders, thickened by Andr and Soumar, could not make the link between defense and attack, completely transparent.
Over the minutes, a false rhythm set in, favored by the rough contact between the players, with a very hard Nagatomo on the man. However, this did not frighten the Lille, sharper in their offensives and not far from finding the fault on a low strike from Araujo. More consistent, the visitors pushed but Celik, who took advantage of the low positioning of the defense, saw his heavy strike being repelled by Mandanda before the break.

The bill could have been even dirtier without two decisive interventions from Mandanda in front of David and Araujo. And when it was not the French goalkeeper, it was the bar that repelled the Brazilian’s free kick!
Germain falls peak
Next to the plate, Marseille nevertheless believed to be back in the game. But Rongier, on one of the only strikes of his team, also struck the wood of Maignan. The biggest opportunity for the Olympians, who could once again thank their goalkeeper, author of an exceptional parade on a point blank head of Andr. Lost opportunities that Lille regretted since Germain, on a corner from Sanson, won in the air to snatch an almost miraculous draw (1-1, 85th). OM are back from hell!

A generally average match on a technical level. If Lille clearly dominated the debates with a good first half hour in the second half, Marseille completely missed its score by offering us the void during almost the entire match.

Monstrous. The OM captain kept his team in the game with multiple stops ahead of Celik, Yilmaz, Araujo and even Andr. We dare not imagine the final result with a less good goalkeeper than Mandanda …

Hiroki Sakai (5): Sakai did Sakai: few climbs and serious defensively even if he had some difficulties in front of Bamba. As if he had reached his glass ceiling.
Duje Caleta-Car (5): the Croatian had all the sorrows in the world against Yilmaz. The central defender held the shock but he will have to rest to recover from such a duel.
lvaro Gonzlez (5): the Spaniard also had difficulties in front of Yilmaz. He was sometimes caught out of speed on the breakthroughs of David and Araujo, which left him no respite.
Yuto Nagatomo (4): for his first tenure, the Japanese showed that he was not there to give gifts with several rather rough stamps on his opponents. Problem, that is not enough to deliver a good match since upon return from the locker room, he is not sharp enough in his duel with Araujo while he loses a ball on the action of the post of Yilmaz. Morgan Sanson (4): a poor match for the Marseille midfielder. Apart from two rises of the ball, he did not contribute anything in the midfield, affected by the pair Andr-Soumar. Daro Benedetto (2): what an ordeal for the Argentinian striker … Not at all found by his partners, unable to keep the ball in his feet, the former player of Boca Juniors is completely missing his match. Catastrophic. Replace the 78th minute with Marley Ak (not rated).
Dimitri Payet (2): ghostly. The Marseille attacking midfielder was nonexistent, contributing absolutely nothing to the game of his team. A rat match in length, width and across which will not reassure the Phocens supporters. Replace the 72nd minute with Nemanja Radonjic (non not).

Mike Maignan (4): not at all contributed in the first period, he is clearly not in the game on the decisive corner of OM with a missed exit.
Mehmet elik (6): a serious match. The Turk gave a lot in his lane and also took part in the Mandanda festival with a heavy strike before the break.
Sven Botman (6): the central defender has made his match. He was solid on the all too rare Marseille attacks.
Jos Fonte (6.5): a serious match for the Lille captain, who behaved like a boss tonight. He left Benedetto no chance.
Domagoj Bradaric (5): a correct copy, nothing more. He gained momentum over the minutes without however managing to bring danger to his centers. He exits after copying a yellow card that could have been darker if he had stayed longer. Replace the 65th minute with Reinildo (non not).
Luiz Araujo (6.5): author of interesting breakthroughs in the first period, he delivers his own on a perfectly mastered strike after returning from the locker room. While he is not far from the double on a free kick that touches the bar, the Brazilian may regret certain actions where he could have done better. Replace the 72nd minute with Jonathan Ikon (non not).
Boubakary Soumar (7.5): a very strong match for the midfielder trained at PSG, who was hyperactive in the midfield. Efficient in recovery, interesting in playing the game and projecting it forward, the Lille resident was impressive.
Benjamin Andr (7): he too was solid to annihilate the Marseille game. His harassment work paid off and he could even have scored without a huge arrest from Mandanda.
Jonathan Bamba (6.5): rather at ease in the first period in the conservation of the ball, the winger passed by Saint-tienne made the difference when he returned from the locker room by sliding a perfect ball for Araujo. Clean in his transmissions, he posed big problems for Marseille defenders.
Jonathan David (4): once again disappointing. Still out of form, the Canadian nevertheless slipped a very good pass for Yilmaz, not efficient enough. But for the rest, the North American still has work to do to get back in shape. Replace the 78th minute with Timothy Weah (non not).
Burak Yilmaz (6): at least the Turk is not pretending … Determined and often thrown like a bison, he weighed heavily on the Marseille defense, who must be happy not to see him anymore. However, he may regret his strike on the post just after Araujo’s goal despite a wide open goal. The 2-0 would have definitively broken OM … Replaced the 78th minute by Renato Sanches (not not).
