Marina del Pilar Ávila will be Morena’s candidate for governor of Baja California

The mayor of Mexicali, Marina del Pilar Ávila, will be Morena’s candidate for governor of Baja California in the 2021 elections.

Although it was believed that the survey would come out in favor of the Mayor of Tijuana, Arturo González, or that of Ensenada, Armando Ayala, the national president of the party, Mario Delgado, affirmed that Ávila was the best positioned in the exercise, whose methodology was not done public.

“We are very happy that she is a woman. A young, intelligent woman, committed to the Fourth Transformation, ”Delgado said outside the party headquarters.

“As of today, she is the coordinator for the defense of the Fourth Transformation in the state of Baja California and we are going to commission her to immediately start forming the defense committees to organize us towards what is to come,” he said.

In his speech, Ávila said that he will seek to consolidate the projects of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Jaime Bonilla in Baja California.

“The most important thing about this poll is that Baja Californians were asked who they preferred to represent them for the governorship,” he said.

“Today we are going for this state coordination that will help us form these important committees to repeat next year what has already been done in Baja California, I am very pleased to have a great team, to be able to consolidate Q4 in Baja California That’s the most important thing, ”he said.

Following the results, the mayors of Ensenada and Tijuana acknowledged Ávila’s triumph in Morena’s internal survey.

“I am sure that Marina del Pilar, who is now the Coordinator for the Defense of # 4T, will bring unity and development to the lives of Baja Californians. I will support his endeavor to build strong foundations in the state, ”Armando Ayala posted on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Arturo González expressed his best wishes for Morena’s standard-bearer in Baja California.

Morena’s candidate for governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, considered that with Ávila there will be an opportunity to boost the northern region of Mexico.

In addition to being the mayor of Mexicali, Marina del Pilar Ávila is a licensed federal deputy. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Law. Before being a public servant, she was dedicated to teaching.

Others who aspired to the candidacy are Senator Gerardo Novelo, Senator Alejandra del Carmen León, local deputy Víctor Manuel Morán, and businessman Pedro Antonio Romero Torres-Torrija.

The deadline for registering applications for a coalition agreement for governor with the Baja California State Electoral Institute is December 23.

The registration of candidacies for governor will be from March 20 to 27. The campaign period is from April 4 to June 2.
