“Thanks to singing, I was able to escape to another world. It was a joy, but also a way to survive, “writes the 50-year-old Mariah Careyová in memoirs that promote where they go. Today, it has a reputation as a pampered wonder that has not only a divine voice but also stellar manners. Her locker room must be full of kittens and puppies, she signs autographs from the throne. However, the new book shows that these “extrabirths” have their origins in her extremely unhappy childhood.
She grew up in poverty
When she was three years old, her mother decided to leave her father (he was African American) and took little Mariah with her. They didn’t have much money, and at one point they lived in a dilapidated house, known as a “shack.” Maybe that’s why they suffer so much from luxury today.
Sister animosity
“When I was twelve, my sister drugged me with valium, offered me cocaine, and tried to sell me to a pimp,” he recalls Sister Alison, who Mariah tossed to her older friend, who was saved from her clutches by a passing man.

At school
When she was 13, her classmates learned of her mixed origins. “They spat on me on the school bus,” he recalls of a difficult period during which he and his mother had to move 13 times.
ATM with a wig
She was brought to singing by her mother, who used to be an opera singer. “At the age of three, I was able to sing an opera aria in perfect Italian.” Her mother supported her in her career as a singer, but Carey said it was mainly because of the money. “They consider me an ATM with a wig on my head,” he writes of his family.
Marriage without love
She was helped to fame mainly by the head of the recording company Tommy Mottola (71), whom she married in 1993. However, the marriage was not happy and Mariah felt like she was in prison in her own house full of cameras and armed bodyguards. However, after the divorce, he decided to take revenge on her. “He used his power and connections to punish me.”
