Maremma Park Celebrates 50 Years with Summer Events

The Park of the Maremma, a natural reserve in the southern area of the Province of Grosseto, is marking its 50th anniversary. Celebrations are scheduled to begin june 5 with a series of events, including scientific initiatives, gatherings, and entertainment. We have decided to make use of what has been experienced in past years, to make the Open Park review grow, which will accompany citizens and visitors in the summer, said Simone Rusci, president of the Maremma park.

Anniversary Kickoff

  • June 5: An institutional comparison and a screening of the documentary The Invention of the Maremma Park by Federico Santini.
  • Following Days: Presentation of the photographic book A Fifty-Year-Old Story, curated by Federico Santini and Giulio Bardi, featuring live music with Loccasion.
  • June 8: extraordinary opening with free admission for guided explorations of the park’s itineraries.

Did you know? The Maremma Park is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including coastal dunes, marshes, forests, and pastures, providing habitats for a wide array of flora and fauna.

A photographic exhibition from the Gori photo archive will also be featured, tracing important milestones in the park’s history.

Open Park Summer Calendar

The Open Park review, known for its eco-amiable theater, music, and shows, will animate the Maremma Park throughout the summer. All events are designed to have zero impact on the reserve’s flora and fauna.

  • June 14: Antonella Ruggiero with Roberto Olzer on piano and liturgical organ (A6 itinerary).
  • June 22: City of Grosseto Symphony Orchestra concert at the Lorenese granary of Spendgolaia.
  • June 27: Piergiorgio Odifreddi’s conference, rereading Darwin, at the granary.
  • June 28: Border Zero company presents The Ballad of Tiburzi and Puccini (Lorenese granary’s external spaces).

Pro Tip: Bring binoculars for enhanced wildlife viewing during park explorations. Early morning and late afternoon are prime times for spotting animals.

  • July 4: City of Grosseto Symphony Orchestra concert at the Lorenese granary.

  • July 16: Studio Theater presents Women a Parliament (Collelungo).
  • July 20: The Geneva di marco and Enzo Avitabile with BPM, Popular Ballad Mistica (A6 path), featuring Redi hasa, Francesco Magnelli, Sana, and Andrea Salvadori.
  • July 24: Duo Monarimari performs the Contry Pedagogue – Sing from earth to Heaven.
  • July 27: Telmo Pievani and Gianni Moroccolo present Nomadic, Singing for Biodiversity (outside the Alberese visits center).
  • July 31: Theater of the XIV festival glass presents Transhumanza Score for Bodies and Visions (A6 itinerary), featuring Sara Scuotti, music by Pierpaolo Vacca, and production by cango, center of significant interest in the dance Virgilio Sieni.

Did you know? The Lorenese granary, or “granaio lorenese,” is a historical building within the park, originally used for grain storage and now a venue for cultural events.

  • August 12: It is not the rose, it is not the tulip – plants, flowers and Fabrizio De Andrè, a production of the theater of the mistake, with Cosimo Postiglione and Paolo Mari.
