INGELHEIM – (red). Marcus Eschborn, 50 years old, a lawyer in his own law firm, from Ingelheim was unanimously elected as a direct candidate of the Ecological Democratic Party (ÖDP) for the state constituency 31 Ingelheim.

His political priorities are climate and nature protection. “The fact that Rhineland-Palatinate abstained from voting in the Federal Council on the ordinance to improve the framework conditions for the development of the LNG infrastructure in Germany is a climate policy scandal,” said the father of three. “So that we can jointly achieve the implementation of the 1.5-degree target, all decisions must be checked for their climate compatibility,” said the candidate. “Furthermore, with our criticism of the idea of growth, we are the only party that does not believe that green growth and technical progress alone are enough to prevent the climate catastrophe. We therefore advocate the principle that less is more. We want to achieve a better quality of life with less material expenditure. ”

As a member of the ÖDP Federal Working Group on Agriculture, Animal Welfare, Genetic Engineering, the subjects of animal welfare, future prospects for rural agriculture and the fight against genetic engineering in agriculture are particularly important to Eschborn. “The fact that Rhineland-Palatinate voted in the Federal Council to allow the controversial animal-cruel crate in pig breeding for at least another eight years makes me angry as an animal rights activist,” said Eschborn.

Hans Peter Schmitt, 54 years old, building materials inspector, from Klein-Winternheim was elected as the replacement candidate. Schmitt is the first deputy district chairman of the ÖDP district association Mainz-Bingen.

The constituency includes the city of Ingelheim, the association community Nieder-Olm and the community Budenheim.
