Uli Latukefu, known for his role on the series Marco Polo, Dwayne will play ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the comedy series the actor is making about his own life. According to Variety goes Young Rock premiered on NBC in 2021.
In the new series, Johnson is portrayed in three different periods: as a ten-year-old, as a fifteen-year-old and as an eighteen to twenty-year-old. Latukefu (37) can be seen in the latter role, when Johnson was hired at the University of Miami and received a scholarship to play American football.
Stacey Leilua plays the character Ata Johnson, the “strong and positive” mother of the now 48-year-old actor and former professional wrestler. Joseph Lee Anderson, known from S.W.A.T. in Harriet, plays the role of Johnson’s father.
Johnson, also known as ‘The Rock’, had a turbulent childhood. He grew up in poverty. When the actor was fourteen, he and his parents were evicted from their home in Hawaii. He was then determined to work hard so that nothing like this could ever happen again.
The Rock started his career in 1996 as a wrestler. After that, he focused more on his acting career. Johnson made his debut in 1999, playing several small roles. He is known for movies like The Scorpion King in Jumanji: The Next Level.
