MAR – René Lobello: “Sad to leave Hassania”

MAR

The French technician is no longer the coach of Hassania Agadir (Moroccan D1). Voluntarily discreet, the winner of the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 2003 with the Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) explains here the reasons for this break.

“René Lobello, how is your mission in Morocco with HUSA, qualified for an African semi-final against the Renaissance of Berkane?
The adventure with HUSA Agadir has just ended. We have signed the termination by mutual agreement with President Sidinou.

For what reasons, when you played for the maintenance in Botola and especially, that you had reached the last square in African Cup?
This is the consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. I arrived in early March. First, we qualified for the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup against the Libyans of Al-Nasr. We also got a precious point in the Championship against the FAR, well classified, in a late game. Then the stadiums were closed. I stayed in Agadir for fifteen days. Then I asked to leave on the last flight to France, at the end of March.

“President Sidinou has been remarkable on a human level”

At that time, were you still the coach?
Absolutely. I also proposed to my president not to be paid throughout the health crisis. It did not make sense. From France, we have set up a platform to be able to provide training sessions by video. Time passed and the club began to suffer economically, the situation became difficult.

Is this what motivated your decision?
Absolutely. President Sidinou has been remarkable on a human level. We spoke last Thursday, and that’s when we formalized the termination. I am not a procedural person. We agreed in a few minutes. Naturally, I am sad because I liked the project a lot, especially on the youth and training component.

Where are you currently ?
At home, in Corsica. I want to bounce back as soon as possible, always abroad, whatever the continent. I’m looking for the right project for this. Freelancing and playing the firefighter, that doesn’t interest me! ”
