If you look at the list of problems in Windows 10 2004 that Microsoft is familiar with, you will find some incompatibilities with drivers, but also other errors, including blue screens and sudden restarts:
Bluetooth: Certain Realtek drivers have problems connecting to more than one Bluetooth device at the same time. Computers with affected drivers are currently not getting the May update.
Audio driver: There may be problems with the update if Conexant ISST Audio or Conexant HDAudio drivers (uci64a96.dll to uci64a231.dll) with a version number lower than 7.231.3.0. are on the system. In these cases, too, the automatic update slows down the delivery of Windows 10 2004. The same applies to the Conexant HDAudio driver in versions 8.65.47.53, 8.65.56.51 and 8.66.0.0 to 8.66.89.00 (chdrt64.sys or chdrt32.sys) .
External monitors: There are problems with integrated Intel graphics on some systems that use an external monitor with a variable refresh rate (VRR). According to Microsoft, VRR will not work in most games.
Blue screen: When inserting or removing Thunderbolt docks, there may even be a blue screen under certain circumstances. Systems with Kernel DMA Protection and Windows Hyperviros Platform turned off are affected. Likewise, Nvidia graphics card drivers smaller version 358.00 can cause a blue screen.
Unexpected restarts: So-called Always on or Always Connected devices can cause unexpected restarts. Microsoft gives its own devices Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3 as examples.
Mouse control: In some programs and games it can happen that the mouse operation suddenly stops working.
Installation problems: The May update cancels the installation if programs or games use certain versions of aksfridge.sys or aksdf.sys.
