Many are disappointed with the performance of the RTX 3090

Nvidia announced the RTX 3090 as the world’s first 8K gaming video card, but has now released a press release in which they nuance the design a bit. The new press material places more emphasis on the RTX 3090 as a productivity card for “creators”.

The RTX 3090 gets 24 GB of GDDR6X video memory and 10,496 cuda cores. The manufacturer now goes out with numbers on how fast RTX 3090 actually will be.

– For gaming in 4K, the GeForce RTX 3090 will be about 10-15 percent faster than the RTX 3080 on average, and up to 50 percent faster than the Titan RTX, the press release states.

The upcoming card starts at 17,000 kroner, and several of the third-party cards cost more than twice as much as RTX 3080. For those who only want RTX 3090 for gaming, it means that you get monologically less for your money here.

Nvidia maintains the claim that it is the first ever 8K video card, but from the outside our tests of RTX 3080 it is probably first and foremost the best optimized, older games one can run in 8K with 60 FPS without DLSS.

On social media such as reddit and in the comments section on some of the biggest gaming sites, many express disappointment that the card will not be more powerful compared to RTX 3080.

Nvidia has allowed several YouTube channels to show the card. LinusTechTips shows, among other things, that Forza Horizon 4 can drive with a frame rate of 60 in 8K, but correctly not with the highest setting level.

Avgrensa behaldning

Even before launch, Nvidia comes up with an excuse that there will be few RTX 3090 cards at launch. They have also received some criticism for launching the RTX 3080 without enough in stock. The same thing happened with the launch of the first Turing cards.

– Since we are building the RTX 3090 for a unique group of users, such as Titan RTX before that again, we will apologize in advance that there will be limited access to the card on the launch day. We know this is frustrating, and are working with our partners to increase inventory in the coming weeks, they write.
