Manchester United have suspended Cristiano Ronaldo from training

Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo has missed training at English club Manchester United for the second day in a row. As the club announced on the club’s website, Ronaldo was released from training for “family reasons”. It is unclear when the 37-year-old is expected back in Manchester. He is currently believed to be in Portugal.

The new Manchester coach Erik ten Hag has to do without Ronaldo in training for the time being.

In recent weeks, rumors about Ronaldo have increased. The latest news will continue to fuel speculation. Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy with Manchester United not playing in the Champions League next season and is therefore targeting a move just a year after returning to the Red Devils. According to reports, the club has so far ruled out Ronaldo’s early departure.

Ronaldo to Barcelona?

Among the hottest candidates for a possible change from Ronaldo are several top European clubs. So writes “Skyport“That a transfer to FC Barcelona is in the air. Ronaldo’s adviser Jorge Mendes is said to have met with Barca President Laporta. Such a change would cause a lot of explosives, since Ronaldo was a superstar at Real Madrid, Barca’s archrival, for years.

However, it is uncertain whether the Catalans, who are more than economically ailing, could lift Ronaldo’s salary. This should demand up to 15 million euros annually; Barely financially viable for Barcelona at the moment. So without Ronaldo’s concessions, a transfer could be difficult.

“Ronaldo to Bavaria would be sexy!”

FC Bayern Munich seems to be hoping for just such a concession. Several German media reports that the record champions from Munich are actually dealing with a possible transfer of Cristiano. Since their top striker Lewandowski has declared that he wants to leave the club by hook or by crook, Bayern are looking for alternatives. But the same applies here: the sticking point is the salary.

FC Bayern legend Lothar Matthäus spoke out in favor of Ronaldo being transferred to Munich on Sunday. In his Sky column he writes: “Ronaldo to Bavaria would be sexy! At the very least, you should think through the options and play them through.” Although it would not be a transfer with a view to the future, he is still an “outstanding goalscorer”, according to Matthäus.

English top club with new purchasing power

The third big club that could reach out to Ronaldo would be Chelsea FC. After the club owner and oligarch Abramovich had to leave the club, the club from London is in new – financially strong – hands. Because here, too, one is desperately looking for a goal machine.

Romelu Lukaku is probably going back to Inter Milan on loan and Chelsea strike partner Timo Werner is said to be flirting with a change. However, it is questionable whether Cristiano could imagine a move to the Blues. One thing is clear: whether the 37-year-old will actually be allowed to go on the hunt for goals at another big club will continue to make headlines in the coming days.
