A fatal stabbing took place in Burcht, a sub-municipality of Zwijndrecht, on Monday evening. The victim is a 36-year-old man. His 24-year-old girlfriend has been arrested as a suspect, the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office confirms.
The drama took place around 11 p.m. in an apartment in Prins Leopoldstraat. It was said to be an argument between the couple that got out of hand. The woman called the emergency services herself, but the victim died on the spot.
The woman was arrested and the public prosecutor’s office has requested an investigating judge. The facts are provisionally classified as manslaughter. The forensic lab also came to the scene for trace evidence.
Last week there was also a fatal stabbing within a relationship in Ghent. Also then, a woman stabbed her boyfriend with a knife after an argument. The man did not survive.
