Man on boat Kloveniersburgwal probably died from carbon monoxide poisoning

The 29-year-old man, whose body was found on July 1 on a boat on the Kloveniersburgwal, probably died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The police report this. The man was found on the morning of July 1 on a white sailboat on Kloveniersburgwal, where police went after a report of noise nuisance. Research has shown that a smothered fire took place on board the boat, after which the man presumably died of carbon monoxide poisoning. According to the police, the boat was recently used by homeless people.

The police are looking for witnesses who know what happened in the night of Tuesday June 30 to Wednesday July 1. This specifically concerns the part of the Kloveniersburgwal between the Staalstraat and the Raamgracht. Police are also looking for a suspected homeless man of Libyan descent with the first name Malik. He would have been last seen at 7 a.m. on July 1 in Veenendaal-West.
