A nightly operation of the mountain rescue Rauris came to a tragic end on Tuesday. A 71-year-old who had been hunting in the forests around Rauris could only be recovered dead.
Because the emergency medical helicopter, which had risen immediately after the emergency call, could not land at the site due to the bad weather, the mountain rescue Rauris was alerted at around 7.30 p.m.
With off-road motorcycles, the specialists were able to bring a doctor and a paramedic to around 1,700 meters above sea level. After a short ascent on foot, the rescuers immediately started the resuscitation measures, and a defibrillator was also used. Unfortunately, all efforts were in vain, the emergency doctor could only determine the death of the 71-year-old Waidmann.

At the same time, other forces had to fight their way up an alpine path that had been badly damaged by mudflows. The roadway was repaired as a makeshift so that additional helpers and rescue material could be driven up. The deceased was finally brought down into the valley with a stretcher and then a quad.
After about three hours, the mission ended at around 10.30 p.m. In addition to the Rauris mountain rescue, Red Cross forces, the crew of the Alpin Heli 6 emergency helicopter and the Taxenbach police were also involved in the unsuccessful rescue of the man.
