Man Femke Halsema opposes community service punishment for prohibited possession of weapons NOW

Robert Oey, the man of Amsterdam’s mayor Femke Halsema, opposes the forty-hour community service that he has received for illegal possession of weapons. That confirms a spokesman for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) Wednesday evening after reporting of The Telegraph.

The filmmaker was sentenced to a closed session last month because he was not licensed to have a gas / alarm revolver. The gun can fire off substances or gases causing an explosion.

The weapon came in the news last summer after the 15-year-old son of Oey and Halsema was picked up in Amsterdam. The boy dropped the weapon as he ran away from an abandoned houseboat in the presence of agents, into which he had entered with a peer of his age.

The boy had found the weapon at home, in the mayor’s office. Halsema was not aware of the presence of the gun before the arrest. In a first public response, she spoke of a fake weapon.

Oey stated later in an interview with NRC that it was a real revolver that was disabled and used on film sets. He also said that he kept the gun in the official residence for ten days.

Because the 53-year-old filmmaker opposes the community service, the case will be dealt with in public at the police court in Amsterdam. A spokesman for the OM could not name a date on Wednesday.
