The car pulled off a road near the mosque in Mecca late Friday evening, breached two barriers and came to a stop as it crashed into one of the doors of the large complex. Nobody was hurt. According to a local official, the driver was in an “abnormal condition”.
The Great Mosque in Mecca, where the Kaaba is located, is considered the holiest site in Islam. At the beginning of this month, the doors of the mosque were reopened for prayer after a seven-month closure due to the corona pandemic.
