Police in the US city of Atlanta have arrested a man responsible for the death of Thomas Jefferson Byrd, reports TMZ Friday.
Two weeks ago, the 70-year-old actor was shot in the back from nowhere. Shortly afterwards, he died in hospital from his injuries.
The arrested man has been detained since Friday and is charged with the murder. What his motives were remains unknown.
Byrd was best known for his collaborations with director Spike Lee. He has appeared in such films as Clockers, Chi-raq in Bamboozled. He also played a role in the Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It.
