Malmö FF is trying to recruit Martin Olsson from BK Häcken

Martin Olsson was selected in Sweden’s EC squad, but due to an injury there was no EC when he was replaced by Pierre Bengtsson. Olsson has for several years been a given player in Janne Andersson’s national team squad and was also part of Erik Hamrén.

He has made a total of 51 A-League appearances, played several championships and has made 197 Premier League appearances. He has had a long career in England where he played for Blackburn, Norwich and Swansea. Before this season, he chose to sign for BK Häcken, who invested in being part of and challenging for the Swedish Championship gold.

MFF near Olsson

But Olsson went on an injury early and Häcken started the Allsvenskan badly, got rid of the coach Andreas Alm who went to Danish Odense, and took in Per-Mathias Högmo instead.

It has given the team a boost. Olsson missed the first two matches of the season, but has now been back in the team and made a total of nine matches in this year’s Allsvenskan.

But the question is how many more matches will there be for BK Häcken for Olsson?

According to SportExpressen’s information, the reigning Swedish champions Malmö FF are working hard to recruit the left-back.

Advanced negotiations

MFF has already made a first contact, at the same time as Olsson himself informed Häcken’s sports management that he is open to a move to MFF. However, new coach Per-Mathias Högmo wants to keep the player and the club will also have a meeting in the days, probably already tomorrow, to decide whether to sell the player or not. Whether it will be MFF or not for Olsson will thus be decided fairly soon. The 33-year-old must also have a clause in his contract that makes a move to another club possible for a certain amount.

SportExpressen was able to reveal last week that MFF is looking for a left-back after Jonas Knudsen’s injury. Among other things, MFF has been close to finishing with FC Copenhagen’s Pierre Bengtsson. Now it can instead be another national team player that MFF takes in as a new left back.
