An Italian man murdered his girlfriend because he suspected he had contracted the corona virus from her. Afterwards it turned out that neither of them was infected.
The drama took place on the Italian island of Sicily. Antonio De Pace (28) strangled his 27-year-old girlfriend Lorena Quaranta, a doctor, because he believed he had been infected by the corona virus and that he had contracted it. A nurse, De Pace then called the police and admitted he killed his girlfriend in their apartment.
Provided by her colleagues
When the police arrived, they found De Pace with wrists cut open and Quaranta’s lifeless body. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where his life was saved by his girlfriend’s colleagues.
Afterwards he told the police that he killed his girlfriend because she infected him with the corona virus. Tests showed that neither had contracted the virus.
Discontent
De Pace and Quaranta both worked in a hospital in Messina where they cared for corona patients. A few days before her death, Quaranta shared her displeasure on Facebook that so many doctors are dying from a lack of protective equipment.
