Fajar/Rian became the only representatives of Indonesia in Malaysia Open 2023 final. As the third seed, Fajar/Rian will face the challenge of the Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.
The fight will be the pair’s third meeting, all of which have occurred in 2022. Their head to head is tied at 1-1; Fajar/Rian defeated Liang/Wang in the final of the Indonesia Masters, after which they lost in the quarterfinals of the Japan Open in a three-game duel.
For Fajar/Rian this is their second final at the Malaysia Open. Last year, the ambition of the men’s doubles champion who is often called FajRi had to be dashed after it ran aground at the hands of Japanese representatives Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.
Meanwhile China and Japan dominated the Malaysia Open 2023 final after sending three representatives each. South Korea placed two representatives, and one representative each from Denmark and Indonesia.
Final Malaysian Open 2023 will open with a mixed doubles match between top seeds Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong against third seeds Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Highashino. The match was held at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (15/11) starting at 13.00 local time or 12.00 WIB.
