Malaysia Again Records Corona Death Record, ICU Patients Burst

Malaysia reported 207 deaths as a result COVID-19 in a day, a record daily death for two consecutive days, with the number of critically ill patients also reaching the highest number.

As reported Channel News Asia, Wednesday (28/7/2021), Director General of Health Noor Hisham Abdullah said, of the 207 people who died on Tuesday (27/7), 31 victims were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The country’s current record for COVID-19 deaths recorded in a single day is 207 deaths. The previous record was last week.

Number of COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) also reached a new record with 1,023 patients admitted. Of these, 524 patients required ventilators.

On Tuesday (27/7) there were 16,117 new cases COVID-19 in a day. This is Malaysia’s second highest daily figure after more than 17,000 infections corona virus reported two days ago.

The Klang Valley region recorded more than half of new cases with 6,616 cases in Selangor and 2,457 cases in Kuala Lumpur. Furthermore, 1,000 new cases were found in Kedah and 907 and 618 cases respectively in Johor and Penang.

Only 26 of the new cases reported on Tuesday (27/7) were imported cases.
