Thiruvananthapuram: Arrested in connection with gold smuggling case Chief Minister and former Principal Secretary M Sivasankar Enforcement Directorate initiates proceedings to seize all assets. Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the ED initiated proceedings to seize all the assets of Shivshankar in connection with the gold smuggling case.

ED had confiscated money and gold from a locker in the name of Sivashankar’s chartered accountant and Swapna. Behind this, the ED is moving to seize more properties in the name of Lord Shiva in connection with the crime. These will be refunded later if it is proved that the property was not acquired through crime.

Against Lord Shiva ED’s partial chargesheet in the case will be filed in court on the 24th. This is part of the process of not getting natural bail.

Although there is a provision under Section 45 of the PMLA that natural bail cannot be granted, some high courts have raised legal objections in this regard. That is why the ED is trying to block Shivashankar’s bail by issuing a partial chargesheet.

Meanwhile, CM’s Additional Private Secretary CM Raveendran will be questioned for a few more days.
