The copper coating was completely torn off. One part flew away, the other crashed into the chimneys.

A copper meteorite crashed a few meters from the Natural History Museum in Malagnou. His body still lies in the grass on Friday morning, surrounded by wooden slabs scattered over several meters. This flying object with sharp edges is a section of the roof covering of a neighboring building. Thursday evening, at the height of the storm, for some as yet unexplained reason, nearly 70 m2 of this metal coating, according to the Fire and Rescue Service (SIS), were torn from the roof of the building at 3, rue de Contamines. “When part of the plaque came off, I heard a loud noise, like a bomb, it made my chair shake,” said a lady from the neighboring building. The piece flew over the neighboring building, crossed the road to Malagnou before crashing at the foot of the Museum. The damage to the ground is minimal; the Museum gets by without a scratch. At the top of the building, however, the area is devastated.
