When the virus enters the walls of a prison, it is very difficult to get rid of it, does not hide Wilfried Fonck, national secretary of the union of prison guards Ufap-Unsa. In recent days, the administration penitentiary identified 431 positive cases among staff (against 287 a week earlier) and 171 among detainees (117 a week earlier).

Avoid tension?

However, when France is reconfiguring, the Ministry of Justice has decided to keep visiting rooms and work in detention, unlike in the spring. Is it because he dreaded, as in March, tensions in establishments, which had been caused by the suspension of visits?

The height of bullshit is carried away by the Ufap-Unsa des Hauts-de-France. While no one on the territory has the right to visit relatives, visiting rooms are maintained. Find the mistake !

The number of prisoners on the rise

At the ministry, it is indicated that detainees will be able to receive visits from their relatives because of compelling family motive which is one of the exceptions to the general travel ban.

But if the concern of the prison unions is strong, it is because the prison population increases again, after a historic drop in the spring. There were 59,782 detainees on May 6 (up from 72,500 in mid-March). But on October 1, they were 61,102 for just under 60,700 places. And 587 mattresses on the floor.

To curb this increase, a few days ago, the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, brought together court officials so that the courts favor house arrest under electronic bracelet rather than detention.
