Many citizens, especially those who have reached the age of 80, are wondering these days what to do to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Wait for the authorities to contact you? Get active yourself? We asked around.

Main-Kinzig-Kreis – Our reader Eberhard Kahlert did not want to wait and asked the city administration in his home town of Maintal. However, there was just as little information available there as with the Main-Kinzig district. The reason: The information is not yet available at the moment.

The press office of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis also reports on numerous emails and letters that the administration in Gelnhausen receives every day. The question asked again and again: When is it myself or when is the turn of the relatives who are assigned to one of the risk groups?

District health department head Susanne Simmler understands the inquiries. “We are finally in a position to vaccinate larger numbers of fellow citizens against the coronavirus in the foreseeable future. Of course, a lot of people want to get in touch at the same time and at an early stage, and that is absolutely sensible and understandably urgent, especially for those of old age and with previous illnesses and their environment, “says the first district member. How quickly other parts of the population could be vaccinated outside of the inpatient facilities, however, depends on the scope of the vaccine delivery, she explains.

Exact timetable in the next few days

Many citizens also wanted to register for a vaccination. However, the district administration is the wrong person to contact, reports District Administrator Thorsten Stolz. “If the Main-Kinzig district has its way, we will open the vaccination centers in Hanau and Gelnhausen better today than tomorrow. The general timetable that we have to adhere to is different and the decision on how to proceed lies with the State of Hesse, ”says Stolz. “When it starts, it should be regulated via national hotlines and platforms. Everyone is contacted from a central point here as soon as an appointment can be booked. This is not done by the colleagues from the health authorities. In the next few days we expect more detailed explanations from the ministerial level as to exactly how this should work for the Hessians. In any case, there are no waiting lists on which one could register. “

The circle also refers to the Corona Vaccination Ordinance of the Federal Ministry of Health. It specifies which three groups of people are vaccinated first. The vaccination of the first group with the highest priority is again divided into three phases in Hessen. The first, currently ongoing phase includes vaccinations by mobile teams in retirement and nursing homes as well as in clinical areas that are most exposed to Covid-19 sufferers, such as intensive care units and emergency rooms.

As soon as sufficient vaccine is available, the opening of six regional vaccination centers in Kassel, Giessen, Fulda, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt will follow in phase two. Depending on the supply of sufficient vaccine, the other 22 vaccination centers in Hesse, including the two in the Main-Kinzig district, will gradually open. One of them is known to be in the August-Schärttner-Halle in Hanau.

Appointments are coordinated via a nationally standardized hotline

The state of Hesse is also planning to coordinate appointments for this expansion of the vaccination campaign via a nationwide uniform hotline and a registration portal on the Internet. People who belong to the population group to be vaccinated should be informed promptly about the possibility and timing of the vaccination. As long as approved vaccines are available in sufficient numbers and the vaccination centers can start their work, as the district press office emphasizes again and again. The “reservations” made by private individuals to the address of the Main-Kinzig district would therefore have “no effect on making contact or making appointments,” as Simmler emphasizes. Everything currently depends on the still insufficient amounts of vaccine.

Meanwhile, there is positive news: The previous corona vaccinations in the district have gone smoothly, as the district reports. “The vaccination campaign got off to a good start in the first inpatient facilities. For this, we would like to thank the emergency services and the responsible departments in the facilities, who supported the preparation and organization ”, declared District Administrator Stolz, First District Councilor Simmler and District Councilor Ottmann after the administrative staff meeting on Wednesday. Up to and including Sunday, around 2500 vaccine doses will be vaccinated in the Main-Kinzig district. The vaccination campaign continues over New Year’s Day and the weekend.

“The interest in vaccination in the facilities is high and reflects the high level of interest that we are seeing from the general public,” said the head of the district.

With the currently running vaccinations, mobile teams have been out and about in stationary facilities since last Sunday. According to the Corona Vaccination Ordinance, people who live and work there have the highest priority for vaccinations. This also included women and men aged 80 and over, as well as caregivers, regardless of the living situation of the caregivers. how
