Maestro felt like a cast-off for Frits Sissing | TV

entertainment">„Years ago I heard in the corridors of AVROTROS that Strictly Come Dancing would return to Dutch television. And that was my dream as a child: big weekend entertainment, red plush, live music,” says the 58-year-old presenter. “So I went to my boss and said: it seems clear to me that I will present that.”

entertainment">After internal consultation, however, it appeared that “AAA star Reinout Oerlemans” had been chosen. Sissing was allowed Maestro go do it, said his then boss. „I was so pissed off; I got the cast-off, while Reinout was there shining in ‘my’ show”, Frits recalls. The first episode was broadcast in 2012 and turned out to be a success. “And now look: Maestro has been above the million mark for six seasons, while Strictly Come Dancing was taken off the pipe after a year.”

entertainment">A new series can be seen from December 5. This time, actress Simone Kleinsma, presenter Bram Krikke, journalist Henk Spaan and radio DJ Eva Cleven are participating.
