In addition to the MacBook Air (see report) and the iPad Pro (message to follow), Apple has also updated its small, versatile desktop computer a little, little. The computer now comes in the standard configuration with a «Quad-Core i3» processor with a larger SSD of 256 GB instead of the less useful and unusable 128 GB storage capacity which is actually unusable for creative people. The more expensive variant with a stronger processor (6-core i5 or optional i7) now comes with 512 GB instead of 256 GB. Everything else remains or at the level of the last major model revision from October 2018, where it had been fundamentally revised (see then report). Because of these minimalist equipment updates, Apple wasn’t even worth a separate press release, so this news was mentioned in the PM of the MacBook Air at the end.
When ordering a Mac Mini, other configurations with a stronger processor, more RAM (up to 64 GB instead of 8 GB basic equipment) and / or larger SSD (up to 2 TB) are also possible.

The Mac mini is the cheapest computer for macOS and with its numerous connections it is actually a versatile tool or (media) server. Properly expanded and connected to a high-quality monitor (and possibly connected to an eGPU), it should be the ideal Mac for most photographers, image editors and other creative people. Only Mac users who need top performance (e.g. video cutter) should be better advised with the significantly more expensive Pro models (iMac Pro, Mac Pro). Users who want to install specific extensions have to use the Mac Pro, which can be massively equipped and expanded and then also likes to cost 50,000 francs,
Incidentally, due to its small dimensions, the Mac mini is even a portable computer that can be used in two or more changing work places if there is a monitor (and preferably a keyboard) there. Incidentally, every Mac mini is made from 100 percent recycled aluminum.
Pricing and availability
The Mac mini now comes with twice the SSD. The cheaper configuration (3.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i3, Gen 8) for CHF 869 including VAT is now equipped with 256 GB as standard, while the more powerful model (3.0 GHz 6-core Intel Core i5, Gen 8 ) now offers 512 GB of storage for CHF 1199.
