Maaemo takes Christmas break earlier than planned – E24

Avisa Oslo has gained access to an email signed by chef Esben Holmboe Bang which has been sent to everyone who had booked a table at the restaurant:

– I am writing to inform that we have made the unfortunate but necessary choice to temporarily close the restaurant from 3 December, instead of staying open until 11 December as planned.

The reason is the infection situation in Norway. A major outbreak of infection from the omicron variant of the coronavirus is suspected after a Christmas dinner in Oslo on Friday last week.

– Many of our employees are from outside Norway and have looked forward to seeing their families for the first time in almost two years. With the latest escalation in the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to give these the opportunity to be quarantined before they travel back to their home countries next weekend. In this way, we hope to maximize the opportunities for them to be allowed to travel and celebrate the holiday with their loved ones, it says further in the email from Bang.
