M 6.2 Earthquake Shakes Pasaman West West Sumatra, Felt to Riau

Earthquakemagnitude (M) 6.2 occurred in West Pasaman, West Sumatra (Boast). The earthquake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, it was felt as far as Riau.

“There is no potential for a tsunami,” the BMKG wrote on its official Twitter account, @infoBMKG, Friday (25/2/2022).

The earthquake occurred at 08.39 WIB. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in parts of Riau. The shaking of the earthquake also took the community by surprise.

“There was an earthquake, it was shaking,” explained Kuantan Singingi resident, Hengki Yuliandi to detik.com.

The residents said the same Pekanbaru, Sonia Sahara. The 28-year-old woman admitted that the earthquake occurred at around 08.42 WIB. “The shaking was felt, my house shook, but not for long, about 10 seconds,” he said.

BMKG Pekanbaru recorded that the earthquake occurred 2 times, namely for the 5.2 SR earthquake at 8.35 WIB and the 6.2 SR earthquake at 8.39 WIB.

“For the 5.2 SR earthquake at 8.35. For the 6.2 SR earthquake, it was at 8.39 WIB,” said the Pekanbaru BMKG Forcaster on duty, Fitri Nur Astuti.
