The Latvian volleyball team Jēkabpils “Lūši” held the first of the two away games in Tallinn on Saturday, giving a convincing concession to the local “TalTech” team.

“Lynx” gave away Tallinn’s “TalTech” with 0-3 (23:25, 21:25, 23:25), which is in the lowest place in the tournament table.

Kristaps Šmits was the most productive player of “Lūšu” with 15 points, scoring two points with an accurate game in the block. Kristers Dardzāns scored another 11 points, but Armands Āboliņš stood out with eight points.

Valentīns Kordas was the clear leader of the Tallinn team with 24 points, while Tamūrs Vīdaleps and Stens Periluss added another 11 points.

On Sunday, the residents of Jēkabpils will meet with another unit of the city “Selver” in Tallinn.

Saaremaa leads the league with 26 points in ten battles. Tartu “Bigbank” follows with 20 points, Jēkabpils “Lūšiem” has 18 points in ten battles, but “RTU Robežsardze” / “Jūrmala” is even one point less, followed by “Parnu” represented by Latvians with 14 points accumulated in nine games. “Biolars” / “Jelgava” scored five points in ten matches and took the eighth place, but “Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme” scored two points in six games, ranking in the penultimate ninth place.

This year, ten teams participate in the men’s competition in the “Credit24” Master League – five from Estonia (Tartu “Bigbank”, “Parnu”, “Saaremaa”, Tallinn “Selver” and “TalTech”), four from Latvia (“Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme”) , “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, Jēkabpils “Lūši” and “Biolars” / “Jelgava”), and among the participants there are again Lithuanian representatives – Klaipeda “Amber Volley”.

At the end of March this year, due to the proliferation of Covid-19, the organizers of the tournament decided not to play in the “Final four” tournament, as a result of which the champions were not crowned.
