COLUMBIA — May 2-3, 2025 — Lindsey wilson College celebrated its final graduating class, a historic event marking the end of an era. The commencement ceremonies honored the achievements of nearly 900 graduates and highlighted the transition to Lindsey Wilson University on July 1. Columbia, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson College marked a meaningful milestone on May 2-3, 2025, by hosting its 121st and final commencement weekend.The ceremonies not only celebrated the achievements of its graduates but also highlighted the institution’s upcoming transition to Lindsey Wilson University on July 1. The weekend was filled with reflections on community support, especially during times of conflict, and the transformative impact of higher education.

A Record-Breaking Class

  • Total Graduates: 890 students received undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees during the spring commencement ceremonies.
  • Historic Number: This was the largest number of spring graduates in the college’s 122-year history.
  • Class of 2024-25: Combined with the winter commencement,the graduating class totaled a record 1,733 students.

A Fond Farewell to Lindsey Wilson College

Anatoliy Voloshyn, a student from Cherkasy, Ukraine, shared his experiences and gratitude for the support he received from the Lindsey Wilson community during the ongoing war in his home country. He recounted the fear and helplessness he felt when the conflict began.

Gripped by an overwhelming fear for my loved ones, consumed by darkness and shock, and paralyzed by the gut-wrenching feeling of helplessness — unable to protect my family, my home or my country from across the ocean.

Voloshyn highlighted the personal losses and hardships faced by his community.

Over the past three years, I have seen my friends and people I grew up with being killed defending Ukraine. One of my former coaches was killed in the first year of the full-scale invasion. Meanwhile, my parents have slept most of the nights in their basement, seeking refuge from Russian missiles. Each day I open the news to witness the suffering and pain my people are enduring.
