Lulu Group’s 200th hypermarket opens

Dubai: The Lulu Group’s 200th hypermarket has opened in Egypt. The first hypermarket in Dubai’s Khisais opened in November 2000 from a supermarket chain that began in the 1990s amid the challenges of the Gulf War, and the triumphal procession that followed yesterday.

The third hypermarket in Egypt is headed by Minister of Internal Trade and Public Distribution Dr. Ali Mosehli was inaugurated at the Park Mall in Cairo Fifth Settlement. Yusufali said that new hypermarkets will be launched in different countries and e-commerce will be expanded and strengthened to more areas.

Lulu has about 58,000 employees, including more than 27,000 Malayalees. It has its own warehouses in over 15 countries, including the US, UK, Spain, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. New hypermarkets will be set up in districts including Kottayam and Thrissur.

Yusufali said the initial operations of the food processing center at Kalamassery and the fish processing center at Kochi have already started and are in the final stages of construction at Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru and Lucknow.
