– PERUGIA

Luis Suarez landed a few minutes after 3pm at Perugia airport. The Juventus fans and football fans were already stationed in the city in the university area at 9.30, where a classic Juventus 7 by Ronaldo was also seen. At 15.30 the boys who had patience were able to see their striker … almost Italian: hat on his head, mask on his face and a backpack on his shoulders.

Great expectation

Luis Suarez left Spain around 1pm on an eight-seat private flight. Direction, Perugia, where he took and passed the exam to obtain the necessary certification for the Italian passport. The exam lasted half an hour. Suarez has already been awarded the certificate of knowledge of the Italian language level B1. Those who attended his test described him as calm, easygoing, nice with the children who were exceptionally let in. The player has been tested for speaking skills, listening comprehension and writing. Around 6 PM Suarez should leave to return to Barcelona, where he trained this morning and where he could play the Gamper Trophy on Saturday.

The intrigue

This, in addition to the passport, is the key point of the story. Suarez does not have an agreement with Barcelona for the termination of the contract. Barça initially excluded him from the project and Luis, proud of the just, made it known that he wanted to collect all the salary provided for in the contract for 2020-21. Barcelona, on the other hand, want to free him without paying. Hence the missed calls for the last friendly blaugrana and the doubt for Saturday. Seeing him again on the pitch would mean seeing an increase in the chances of staying in Barcelona, as Koeman himself said a few hours ago: “If he stays, he can play”.

and now?

The question that everyone is asking at this point is one: can he really make it to Juventus? The exam, assuming a good outcome, technically does not change the substance: the time to obtain a passport remains tight. Juventus should register Suarez in the Champions list by midnight on 6 October and the Italian market closes the day before. The passage to the Interior Ministry and the oath to the consulate would remain to be made. Of course, no one can rule out a Juventus sprint with a signature, in the event that Dzeko does not become Juventus. There is also a final hypothesis: the signing as a free agent after 6 October. Suarez could not play in the Champions League groups, but he would be ready for the championship immediately.
