Luis Díaz Suspended: Bayern Striker Misses Three UCL Games After Hakimi Injury

UEFA Suspends Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz for Three champions League ‍Matches Following Injury to Achraf Hakimi

Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz ‌(28) has been handed a‌ three-match ban by UEFA for a foul on​ Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi (27) during a Champions⁤ League match in early November. The ​tackle resulted in ​a serious‍ ankle sprain for Hakimi, sidelining the Moroccan international until the end ‌of the year.

Díaz scored two goals in the first‌ 32⁣ minutes‌ of the match at the Parc ⁣des ⁤Princes, but was shown a straight‌ red card late in the first half for the challenge on Hakimi.‍ Bayern⁣ ultimately won the game⁤ 2-1.

hakimi,who ‌accepted the African Footballer of the Year award on Wednesday while wearing a brace and limping,is⁢ the first defender in 52 years to receive‍ the honor.

UEFA has‍ confirmed Díaz will​ miss Bayern’s upcoming⁣ Champions League fixtures ‍against Arsenal, Sporting, and Royale ⁣Union SG.

Bayern coach​ Vincent Kompany‍ initially stated on Friday he was only aware of ⁣a one-match​ suspension, but ‍the ban​ was subsequently ⁢extended.‌ Despite​ the suspension, Bayern remain⁢ in a​ strong position in the competition, currently leading their group with a perfect⁣ record alongside Arsenal and Inter.They are considered favorites​ in their remaining matches, particularly those ⁣played at home.
