“There are still (sanctions). We want to see so yesterday those who owed (fines) to PLN we will investigate. We will punish this (company) if big companies do not fulfill their obligations,” he said.

At least 418 coal mining companies are against government orders to allocate 25 percent of their black gold production to meet domestic needs, including for PLN.

This was revealed from the results of the meeting or socialization by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to the Ministry of Trade delivered by the Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office of East Kalimantan Province Christianus Benny.

Benny said the disobedience was carried out by 418 companies by not allocating their coal production to PLN. Until October 2021, the realization of the obligation to allocate coal from the company for domestic purposes is still 0.

For this disobedience, President Jokowi has ordered his staff to revoke the license of the recalcitrant company.

Jokowi said the DMO policy was absolute and could not be violated. This is in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 139.K/HK.02/MEM.B/2021 concerning the Fulfillment of Domestic Coal Needs.

“Companies that cannot carry out their obligations can be subject to sanctions, if necessary, not only cannot they get export permits, but also revoke their business licenses,” said Jokowi at a press conference last Monday (3/1).
