On Friday, more than 5,000 Lufthansa pilots went on strike. This also affected flights from Hanover Airport to Langenhagen. Those affected could exchange their ticket for a train ticket.
The first flight to Frankfurt was canceled early in the morning, another flight for the morning was canceled, as well as a flight to Munich in the evening. Three of the seven planned machines from Frankfurt and Munich did not land at Hanover Airport. Lufthansa flights to Munich were also canceled at Bremen airport and three out of seven cars did not land in Bremen as planned. Hamburg airport was also hit, with 42 flights canceled.
About 130,000 passengers affected
Nationally, Lufthansa had canceled almost the entire schedule for Friday. About 800 flights with around 130,000 affected passengers were canceled at hubs in Munich and Frankfurt, the company announced Thursday. Lufthansa has offered On your web page flight information. Passengers can also exchange their airline ticket online for a free train ticket or cancel their flight.
Collective bargaining is blocked
The Lufthansa cockpit staff stopped work all day: according to the Vereinigung Cockpit union, these were only departures from the main company Lufthansa and the freight division Lufthansa Cargo from Germany. The reason is the current collective bargaining conflict in the group. Lufthansa criticized the strike request and called for a return to the negotiating table. More recently, on Wednesday talks on a new wage agreement for pilots were unsuccessful.
