Xena‘s Lucy lawless to Discuss directorial Debut at Meaford International Film Festival
MEAFORD, ON – Actress Lucy Lawless, celebrated for her iconic role as Xena in Xena: Warrior Princess and her appearance in Parks and Recreation, will be a special guest at the Meaford International Film Festival (MIFF) this week. Lawless will present and discuss her directorial debut, the award-winning documentary Never Look Away.
The film centers on Margaret Moth,a CNN camera operator who courageously documents conflict zones around the globe. Lawless will participate in a Q&A session with the audience via Zoom instantly following the screening on September 19th at 1:30 p.m.
“Lucy Lawless is known around the world for her television roles, but her directorial debut brings us an critically important look at what individuals like Margaret Moth go through to show us the truth,” said Anna den Hengst, Artistic Director for MIFF, in a statement. “This is a very important film, especially at a time when the news and the very idea of truth are under fire.”
Never Look Away offers a vital perspective on the often-unseen sacrifices made by journalists and camera operators who risk their safety to bring global events to light.The documentary has garnered critical acclaim for its unflinching portrayal of war’s impact and the dedication of those who document it.
MIFF runs from September 18th to 21st, and serves as a key fundraising event for the Meaford Culture Foundation. The festival will also host directors Karan Kandhari (Sister Midnight) and Georgi M. Unkovski (DJ Ahmet), who will present and discuss their respective films.
