LSU Women’s Basketball Continues Road Swing with Matchup Against New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS,LA – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team (9-0) will face the New Orleans Privateers on Wednesday,December 6th,marking the 31st meeting in series history. LSU holds a commanding 25-5 advantage boasting an 11-1 record when playing in New Orleans. This game represents the fourth consecutive road contest for the Tigers following their participation in the 2025 Paradise Jam Tournament.
The LSU-UNO rivalry dates back decades, with this contest being the first since an 83-49 LSU victory in the 2019-20 season opener. The Tigers have played 12 games in New Orleans across the 30 previous matchups. This game is significant as LSU aims to maintain its perfect 9-0 start to the season and extend its winning streak to ten games, despite recently having an eight-game streak of scoring 100+ points snapped.
Under head coach Kim Mulkey,LSU is undefeated in true road games,holding an 8-0 record. The team is coming off a 93-77 victory over Duke in the ACC/SEC Challenge at cameron Indoor stadium, a game where six tigers scored in double figures, led by Flau’jae Johnson’s 18 points.
New Orleans is led by third-year head coach Trelanne Powell, who has eight newcomers and seven returning players on her roster. Powell’s overall coaching record is 16-50 during her time with the Privateers, following a triumphant five-year tenure at Tuskegee where she finished her final season with a 26-4 record.
