Lowering VAT makes prices cheaper: Aldi takes a surprising special approach

As part of the corona-related stimulus package, consumers in Germany should consume more in order to boost the economy and production.

In order to create incentives to shop, VAT also drops. Customers pay this tax when they buy products in-store or online, or when they pay for services.

The German supermarkets and discounters have already announced that they want to pass on the entire value added tax to the customer. However, these are cents that save customers. CHIP has already reported that customers can save a lot, especially with a new car, e-bike, furniture and handicrafts. As a rule, almost € 30 in profits jump out of every € 1,000.-

The VAT reduction applies from July 1 to December 31, 2020 for the time being.
