Lovište Bay Pollution: Croatian Residents Furious Over Sewage Issues

LOVIŠTE, CROATIA – Residents of the picturesque seaside village of Lovište on the pelješac Peninsula are sounding the alarm over what they describe as a important decline in the quality of their bay, with dozens of yachts anchoring and allegedly treating the waters as a public toilet. The issue, highlighted in the local “I <3 Lovište" discussion group and reported by morski.hr, has sparked outrage among locals who feel their concerns are being ignored.

“If at least they left the 10 euros here. We can’t protect our seats,” commented one indignant resident, reflecting a sentiment of frustration over the perceived lack of control and supervision by authorities. Locals argue that despite paying taxes and charges, they are subjected to noise disturbances from “shouting guests” all night, damage to pine trees and stones from ships tying up, and severe sea pollution.”The result is a catastrophic quality of the sea,” they stated.

Zdravko, another resident, echoed these sentiments, quoting a wise saying: “‘Only models live from beauty’. Our gorgeous homeland is raped. Greetings from Lovišťa. and if someone woke up after so many years, it would be nice.”

Data from Z .. MORE MORES previously indicated that Lovište was among the most problematic sites in Central Dalmatia, bordering on the worst category for sea quality. While the situation reportedly improved a few days ago, with current reports showing excellent quality, the underlying concerns about pollution sources persist.

Residents primarily blame visiting boaters for discharging sewage tanks directly into the bay, contributing to the worsened state of the sea. However, others point out that local infrastructure may also be a factor, suggesting that aging septic tanks within the village could also be contributing to the pollution.
