Lost her mother – now Tara (25) will honor her on The Voice

This year’s The Voice participants have impressed the mentors from the first program. Several of them have also not been strangers to the scene before, in addition to ending up on Spotify’s top 50 and trending on YouTube.

All the hopefuls who audition share the same musical dream when they enter the stage. And they all have their own story – where some are stronger than others.

One of those we get to see on stage in Friday’s program is Tara Nikolaisen (25).

Here she shares her personal story of how she lost her mother less than a year ago.

Learned about music from mom

Nicolaisen is one of several hopeful talents who will sing for the mentors this Friday.

– It was the most nerve-wracking thing I have ever encountered, the 25-year-old tells TV 2.

– You have to perform at a completely different level. In addition, the mentors are so skilled, and you have no idea if they will turn around or not, she continues.

She can also tell that her taste in music may be a little different. Nicolaisen listens mostly to country and blues.

The love she has for old music was something she shared with her mother, which she suddenly lost less than a year ago.

In Friday’s episode of The Voice, Nicolaisen tells candidly about how she experienced losing her mother at a young age, and how it has affected her life and music.

– Her death came very suddenly. She was not sick, there was nothing wrong. I called her one morning to get her to the café, but got no answer, she says in The Voice episode.

– It was an acute cardiac arrest. It has been a difficult time, Nicolaisen shares.

– She had been proud

The 25-year-old says that everything she knows about music she has learned from her mother. Now she feels that the bond they had is strengthened by her dream of playing music.

– I have her with me later in life because I play music. It’s a great way to honor her.

The dream is to do music full time, and be able to make a living from making your own material.

– This is what I want to do, and what I want to do. So The Voice was a perfect place to start to share my music.

There is also no doubt about what kind of music she wants to make. It’s a mix between indie and pop – and a lot of calm songs.

Nicolaisen himself thinks that her mother had been very nervous about her performance in front of the mentors, but also knows that she had been very proud.

– I think she had said that she was proud, and that she had been sure that I would move on. But typically mothers to be overprotective, she says.

You see The Voice on Fridays at 20, or already now on TV 2 Play.
